The chip, built by a team at MIT’s Microsystems Technology Laboratory, can perform tasks such as creating more realistic or enhanced lighting in a shot without destroying the scene’s ambience, in just a fraction of a second. So, Instagram updated its Terms of service.

You agree that a business or other entity may pay us to display your username, likeness, photos (along with any associated metadata), and/or actions you take, in connection with paid or sponsored content or promotions, without any compensation to you.

This means that Instagram can sell the pictures you take, if some company wants to pay for these photos. They can then do whatever they want with them, including putting the photos in advertisements.
